Education

Every child deserves an education.

Education

Charis Foundation is committed to transforming the lives of underprivileged children through the power of education. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future. Our educational initiatives focus on providing access to quality schooling, learning materials, and a nurturing environment that encourages holistic development.

Through our programs, we support rescued and marginalized children by enrolling them in schools, offering after-school tutoring, and providing scholarships where needed. We also ensure that children receive moral guidance, life-skill training, and counseling to help them overcome social and emotional challenges.

By bridging the gap between potential and opportunity, Charis Foundation empowers children to rise above poverty and become responsible, confident individuals who can contribute positively to society.

Bridge education

Children from underserved communities often miss out on formal education. Bridge courses help us guide families and raise awareness about why education matters for their child’s future.

Schooling

Charis sponsors school education for children from low-income communities. With access to classrooms and care, they gain the skills and stability needed for a better, more secure future.

Higher Education

Youth who finish school are supported to pursue college or vocational training. Charis funds higher education so they can develop careers, earn with dignity, and break cycles of poverty.

Extracurriculars

Children explore music, art, sports, and more—building confidence beyond the classroom. They also learn life skills like teamwork, time management, and communication through creative play.

Free Schooling for Underprivileged Children

Our children’s home is built on more than 11,000 sq ft of land, with over 60 beds, a kitchen built to feed over 90 children, a library, a sports ground within walking distance and more.

Amenities available to our children include – a recreation room with indoor games, televisions; a musical room with a variety of musical instruments, a clinic for emergency care, and a counseling room.

More than just education

Each child attends either an English or Tamil medium school — based on what feels most comfortable and empowering for them.

The children are also exposed to extra-curricular activities, like sport, dance, martial arts and music. They are also given soft skills training from experts – skills like time management, money management, public speaking and more.

Health and wellness

We ensure our children go through full-body yearly check-ups at a Chennai-based hospital. The nearby Primary Health Centre also conducts health camps for the children every 3 months.

We also work with hospitals and medical centers for regular health-camps for our childrens’ eye, dental and overall well-being.

Nutritious Food Everyday

A team of home cooks and dietitians ensure our children are well-fed, with healthy, home-cooked food 4 times a day. The children get nutritious meals including eggs, protein, seasonal fruits & vegetables, milkshakes, and more.

Special occasions like birthdays are celebrated with treats like cake and sweets, making each child feel seen and cherished.

Recreational activities

At Charis, joy is just as important as care. Our children have access to a dedicated TV room, indoor games, and plenty of space to play and just be kids.

Every year, the children also go on vacations to getaways like Yelagiri — moments of wonder, laughter, and memories that last a lifetime.

ehabilitation & Counseling

Some of our children come from deeply traumatic backgrounds — extreme poverty, abuse, trafficking, neglect. At Charis, we know that raising a child isn’t just about providing food, shelter, or schooling.

Every child in our care receives counseling and emotional support. With regular therapy sessions & a safe space to express themselves, our children are given the tools to rebuild trust, rediscover joy, & grow.
